After 44 years, The Light Fantastic is closing its doors.
This company started in 1982. For 44 years it lit stages, arenas, ballrooms, tents, and parking lots all over the Miami Valley, and for a period of time, across the country. If you grew up around here and went to a graduation, a concert, a UD game, or a St. Patrick's Day party, there's a good chance you stood in light that came out of our shop. That's not a small thing, and we never took it for granted.
To our clients: thank you for trusting us with your biggest nights. You called when it had to go right, and you kept calling. That trust was earned by a lot of people over a lot of years, and I hope we honored it.
To the crew: you were this company. The shop hands, techs, electricians, and operators who showed up at 6 a.m., ate lunch standing up, worked all day, and struck the show at midnight. Your work behind the scenes made incredible shows and events possible. Thank you.
To IATSE Local 66, the venues, and the vendors who shared our calls: thank you for partnering with us over the decades and for the lasting mark you left on live entertainment in this region.
Forty-four years is a long run. While the lights are going out here on Xenia Ave., the torch burns on. The people who built and sustained this place aren't going anywhere, and they're already building what comes next for production in the Miami Valley. Stay tuned.
Thank you, Dayton.
